Saint John's Preparatory School:
Saint John's Preparatory School is a Benedictine, co-educational, boarding and day college preparatory school for students in grades 6-12, with boarding options beginning in the 9th grade. Saint John's Prep is conveniently located 10 minutes west of St. Cloud within the 2,700 acres of woods and lakes of Saint John's University's campus in Collegeville, Stearns County, central Minnesota.
Saint John’s Preparatory School exists to inspire students to great achievements and self-understanding by involving them in a premiere liberal arts curriculum focused on Academic Rigor and Spiritual Growth within a Benedictine Environment.
Saint John’s Prep touches the lives of young people during their most critical years of schooling, when personal identity, values, character, ethics, and lifestyle are all coming into maturity. Accelerated intellectual, physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and moral growth is occurring.
To enter this learning community, a person must commit to becoming a strong, functioning member of the school community. Saint Benedict, the master of what it takes to form a community, and to live it, is our guide. The best in educational theory and the latest in brain research are the basis for our innovative programming.
Our students learn to appreciate that knowledge is much more than remembering facts; it includes understanding societies, cultures, institutions, and self. They are introduced to the need for continuous learning and taking responsibility for their own lives.
Accreditation:
Saint John's Prep is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States and the North Central Association (ISACS).
We believe that our middle school and upper school students learn best in educational settings that recognize and respond to their respective academic and developmental needs.
We believe that the educational program of Saint John’s Preparatory School offers its students a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum, aids in the development of social and emotional well-being, deepens spiritual growth and moral maturity, enhances an appreciation for the arts and human creativity, emphasizes the value of good work and study habits, and promotes regular physical exercise and a truly healthy lifestyle.
Saint John's Prep attracts students who are motivated, talented and involved in many activities beyond the academic day. All Prep students are encouraged to be actively involved in the school community through participation in after school activities and clubs, sports, arts, music, and/or theater programs.
The variety and number of programs and offerings provide students with the opportunity to develop and improve skills, explore new interests, build friendships and also presents them with the opportunity to learn to prioritize and balance schedules.
As both a day school for local central Minnesota students, and as a boarding school for U.S. and international students, Saint John's Prep is committed to providing an enriching community life for all its students.
Residential Program:
Students will find a safe and secure environment at Saint John's with full-time adult staff supervising and mentoring the students. Girls and boys live in separate residence halls.
The boys live in St. Michael Hall, located next to the academic building. Girls live in Richarda Hall at the nearby private women's college, the College of Saint Benedict. Busing is provided between the two campuses throughout the day and evening.
