Parsons Preparation:
Parsons New School for Design requires special exercises in addition to a portfolio from its applicants. The Parsons' admissions board may consider this supplementary work more important than portfolios. Therefore, we have designed a special course geared towards students that are applying to Parsons.

FIT Preparation Class:

Architecture and Interior Design Class:
NYART has created a special course for students interested in pursuing architecture and interior design majors in college. Our experienced teaching staff combines both theory and practical techniques, helping students create new, quality pieces for their portfolios.

Drawing Courses:

NYART students learn to draw by observing the visual properties of form and the spaces they occupy. They gain an understanding of the basic elements of drawing and their potential to articulate and express these properties purposefully and convincingly. The course stresses on the development of sound draftsmanship and various strategies for personal exploration. In Drawing I, students will study nude, still life, interiors, landscape, lighting, nature stud, portrait, and composition, among others.

In upper-level classes, studio drawing courses are more varied and esoteric, encouraging personal expression and inviting visual experimentation, conceptual sophistication and imaginative solutions.

Courses are offering in both traditional painting conventions (representational) and more contemporary methods and forms (abstracts, 3D). Painting I and II represent a range from figure and landscape painting options to courses that address the poetics of material, personal narrative, visual music, collaboration, performance, and installation art.

Illustration Courses:
Illustration students at NYART create work that is rooted in personal vision and filtered through the lens of contemporary culture. Illustration coursework cultivates strong drawing and observational skills.

3D / 4D Courses:

In this class, students develop their spatial and visual abilities using drawings, models and a broad range of digital media.

Printmaking Courses:
NYART offers studio experience in major printmaking disciplines; relief, screen-printing. The program provides exposure to traditional and contemporary techniques as well as interdisciplinary directions such as book concept, printmaking, colla-graph and mono-printing.

Mixed Media Courses:
Mixed media enhances the student's visual sense. Educating students on how to use a variety of mediums to produce an interesting, unique piece of work.
