The Masters School is a coed day and boarding school that provides a first class preparatory curriculum for 5th-12th grade students, with boarding beginning in the 9th grade. Overlooking the Hudson River and located in Dobbs Ferry, The Masters School offers a safe learning environment and one of the few boarding school experiences in close proximity (35 minutes) to New York City. A thoughtfully designed residential life program ensures that all the experiences students would have at home are part of campus life. Students and teachers make full use of great campus facilities as well as once of the most exciting classrooms in the world--New York City. As a boarding and day school, this is a place of high standards, great achievement, and hard work. But this is also a place of creativity, diversity, and fun. The curriculum is challenging. An engagement with the School's community service program has been strong since the School's founding in 1877.

The Masters School offers one of the only boarding school experiences in the New York metropolitan area. Here, there is no pressure to conform to a particular mold: students are free to be who they are: teenagers. A thoughtfully designed residential life program ensures that all the experiences students would have at home—from nights at the movies to dances to driver’s ed—are part of campus life.

Dorms feature all the amenities students need to live comfortably and thrive academically and socially. All rooms have phones and high-speed Internet connections, and each dorm is equipped with washer-dryers and contains a number of common areas, including kitchens and TV/VCR rooms.

Students have the freedom and flexibility to pursue new interests and develop unique talents. Faculty and advisors are always on hand to provide support and to help develop good decision-making and time-management skills.

On weekends, boarders engage in a range of on-campus activities, including art studio, open gym, concerts, coffee houses, movies, dances, and dorm challenges. Off campus, students enjoy trips to New York City, nearby ski areas, horseback riding trails, local shops, and Westchester County’s historic sites and attractions. During six “Community Weekends,” all boarders stay on campus for special programs Day students are always welcome on campus and for excursions.

Each dorm has four “parents” who create a warm and homelike environment. Faculty are available day and night and become familiar with the details of students’ lives so they can address any issues as they arise. Students, in turn, know they can always receive sound advice from a dorm parent. In addition, each boarding student has a dedicated faculty advisor who lives on campus. Along with active guidance, faculty provide a valuable example: as professionals, parents, husbands, and wives, they model the School’s fundamental values of integrity, service, and concern for others.
