Coastal Children's Learning Center:
Located in Costa Mesa, Orange County CA, Coastal Children's Learning Center provides preschool and Pre-K classes for children ages 18 months to 6 years. Our program is a learn-through-play, developmental course which follows the High Scope Curriculum. We are licensed for 39 children and have 8 staff members, and strive to maintain a low student-teacher ratio of 1:8. We also offer a day care service. We provide a safe environment in which children can be successful as they encounter the challenges of the world we live in.
Pre-School & Pre-Kindergarten Classes for Children ages 1-6 Years:
We believe that learning is most effective for children when it is provided through ‘play’. Play is the child’s work, where education is life. With this in mind, we will provide intellectual stimulation through a variety of new experiences where the teacher becomes a facilitator to problem solving in each child’s world.
- The Goldfish Class (18 months - 30 months)
Coastal CLC has 6 spots in the Toddler Option program, our Goldfish Class. From a young age, children begin a journey to explore and understand the world. It is the job of our Goldfish teacher to encourage them to learn through play using fun, mostly sensory based experiences and activities to guide them. We provide opportunities to foster development through toddler paced science, math, art, music and language curriculum while catering to their individual needs.
- The Jellyfish Class (2.5 years - 3.5 years)
The Jellyfish may be potty trained, or may be working on potty training. They are doing as much on their own as possible. We encourage them to help make snack, make their own beds for nap, and be teacher helpers as much as possible. They do Circle Time songs, work on the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors. Art and music and movement are part of each days activities. They focus on using their words and interacting well with their friends and in groups.
- The Seahorses Class (3.5 - 4.5 years)
The Seahorses are 3 & 4 year olds who are working on their alphabet, numerical, and phonics skills. They are preparing and maturing, and focus is on getting ready for the pre-k curriculum. Songs, music, movement, fine and gross motor skill activities, science, understanding the calendar and art projects are all part of the daily activities.
- The Seastars Class (Pre K)
The goal for the Seastars class (Pre-K) is to prepare them to be successful when starting kindergarten. The curriculum focuses on all basic skills such as; gross / fine motor, cognitive and social and emotional development. On top of having a phonics program that is appropriately designed for the class, proper "Kindergarten etiquette and manners" are practiced and very much encouraged.
