Newtown School, Waterford:
Located in Waterford City in the south east of Ireland, Newton Schoolwas founded in 1798 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). The ideals of its founders still inspire the School which today educates boys and girls for life in the 21st century. Newtown School welcomes boarding and day students of all religious persuasions, and appreciates the contribution of all denominations to the school community.

Our desire is to foster a sense of caring for others and to communicate a set of values which reflects a balance between the material and the spiritual. In keeping with the Quaker tradition every individual is of value and has something to contribute. The School promotes these ideals and, while rules are kept to a minimum, high standards of behaviour are expected. Students are encouraged in a supportive and caring environment to fulfill these expectations.

The school aims to communicate a set of values, which reflect a balance between the spiritual and material aspects of life. In such an environment encouragement is more desirable than negative criticism. All pupils are of value and worthy of respect and the school aims to convey this to its pupils so they should not only realise this but also behave accordingly.
