Summer School Russian Courses in Moscow, Russia

Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University):

Contemporary Russian Politics - Summer School
The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) offers this summer school for International students. The objective of the Program will be to give foreign students a comprehensive picture of contemporary Russian politics, institutions and processes as well as contemporary Russian foreign policy. Students will also have a chance to learn and practice the Russian language.

This program will provide students with a comprehensive and balanced curriculum, that combines classroom instructions with field trips, language partnerships, and extra curricular activities.

- Dates: 01 June 2009 – 15 July 2009
- Open to BA Students
- No prior knowledge of Russian required
- All students must have a passport at the time of application
- 7 weeks – approx. 20 class hours per week
- Integrated Russian language course (3 levels) - 10 hours a week (max. 8 students in a language group)
- 2 cultural excursions + course-related trips (at no additional expense)
- Dormitory on the campus (#2)

Programme includes the following courses and activities:
- studying contemporary Russian politics, foreign policy, institutions and processes;
- discussing Russian perspective on international relations;
- meeting prominent Russian leaders (head of parliamentary committees, representatives of Presidential Administration and MFA, civil leaders etc.);
- getting access to Russian political institutions (Russian Parliament, ministries and other government bodies);
- learning and practicing Russian language;
- going to cultural excursions and activities in and around Moscow;
- experiencing Russian cultural traditions;
- studying in multicultural environment.

By the end of the course the students will have a unique integrated in-depth experience of current Russian politics, economy and social life and therefore will be able to compose their own vision of Russia.
