Galfir Spanish School, Tenerife:
At Galfir Spanish School located in San Cristobal de La Laguna (west of Santa Cruz) on the island of Tenerife, Canary islands, in the Atlantic Ocean, south-west of Spain and north-west of Africa, we offer a truly wide range of Spanish courses for people with all kinds of needs and learning preferences. We provide a close student-teacher relationship thanks to the medium-to-small size of our school. Four different learning levels (Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) are provided to suit each student’s individual needs. Students are assessed via a level test on the first day of their course. Because of the large number of foreign students from diverse parts of the world that are drawn to our town’s university, we’re used to teaching students with diverse nationalities and different levels in Spanish.

Intensive Spanish:
Our Intensive Spanish course guarantees the utmost in flexibility and personal attention from our teachers. The course consists in 4 daily lessons. They can be initiated on any Monday of the year, year-round, for every level except the lowest (Beginner Intensive Courses start on every first and third Monday of the month).
Class size is always limited to a maximum of 6 students per class. The minimum duration of an Intensive course is one week. A level test is given on the first day of classes to assign you to the right level.
Each course is divided into grammar and conversation lessons. First we make sure students study the basic language skills individually - reading, writing, speaking and listening – and then work to join them all together.
Spanish for Academic Purposes:
This course is for students who want to study at a Spanish university. The course is very advanced and requires a decent level in Spanish. For total beginners who want to study at a Spanish university, Galfir recommends the Combined Course that combines individual lessons with an Intensive Course.
DELE Preparation:
D.E.L.E (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language) is the most important examination in Spanish for foreign students. It’s possible to take the exam in the city of La Laguna. The exam is divided into Basic, Intermediate and Higher Diploma levels, and Galfir has a program to help students prepare for each of these.
The course consists of 8 lessons per week during the 12 weeks preceding the exam. A 4-week, 20 hour per week Intensive DELE Preparation Course is also available. The DELE exam is held in May and November; for exact dates, students are asked to contact the school.
Spanish for Aupairs:
Courses for Aupairs consist of 4 hours of Spanish per week (2 classes per week).
Combined Course (Intensive Course and Individual Lessons):
This course is perfect for students with little time that want to make the most of their stay. It consists of a 15 hour per week Intensive Course plus 4 hours per week in individual lessons.
The individual lessons can focus on particular aspects such as Spanish culture or conversation, and always compliment the Intensive Course. Individual lessons are held before the daily intensive course at a time arranged between the student and the teacher.
This course is designed with each student’s particular needs in mind, and has a minimum duration of two weeks. Courses can begin on any Monday of the month for every level except the lowest (Beginner Combined Courses start on every first and third Monday of the month).
Combined Courses (Spanish & Salsa):
Galfir offers students the opportunity to learn Salsa, an important part of the culture in the Canary Islands, in conjunction with their Spanish course.
The Canary Islands is probably the only destination in Europe where a true Salsa culture can be found due to its close connections with Latin America.
This course consists of 20 hours per week of Spanish plus 4 hours per week of Salsa lessons. The timetable for Salsa lessons is given upon commencement of the course. All Salsa lessons are held in the afternoon.
