Summer Study Abroad Programs in Spain
Metáfora is an international art school for adult students, situated in an old factory building in the centre of Barcelona, capital of the Catalan region in Spain, on the northeast Mediterranean coast. Metáfora is an international centre of Contemporary Art and Art therapy, offering courses and activities of both disciplines. In the summer, Metáfora offers its spaces and facilities to students and professionals from the fields of art and design. Individual spaces are equipped with studio-furniture, easels etc. and participants will have open access to all the art-making facilities of the centre. During this period Metáfora can organise for art tutors and technitians to come on request for accorded hours for tutorials and technical advice. All tutoring is in English or Spanish. In essence, the Summer studios is not an art-course, and artists come to work at Metáfora with specific objectives and independent goals.

If an artist on the summer studio needs more than a simple run-through of the available techical facilities, a tutorial can be arranged upon request. For this pupose we have a list of tutors to contact, should any of the artists need specific help in technical aspects or simply want to talk to someone abut his/her work. We can also arrange for small courses (4-6 hours) of specific techniques if a group of students come together around this idea.

A wonderful and inspiring place to study only 15km from the jet set town Marbella, the beautiful beaches and restaurants! A great combination to blend holiday and study. The students spend the day from 10.00 to 15.00 studying and the evening enjoying the warm summer nights in Marbella, there are dominated by the smell of the flowers "Dama de Notche" blended with the smell of the sea. Surrounded by all the international guests, there are spending their holiday in this jet set town of Marbella in the South of Spain.

Next year Summer Course - 5 Weeks intensive - 19th of July to 20th of August 2010, 5 days per week from 10.00 to 15.00 (50 min lunch break incl) in the following subjects:
* Auto Cad - beginners
* 3D Max - beginners
* PhotoShop and Illustrator - beginners
* Photography - beginners
* English - beginners
* Spanish - beginners
When completed the 5 weeks Summer Course you qualify for a Certificate.
Non European students can enter Spain on a normal tourist Visa.

Metàfora es una asociación en Barcelona sin ánimo de lucro dedicada al Arte Contemporáneo y al Arteterapia que ofrece un abanico de actividades culturales, docentes y terapeuticas. Metàfora mantiene convenios de colaboración con diversas entidades públicas como la Universitat de Barcelona, centros del Departament d'Ensenyament i de la Salud de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
La Escuela de Verano de Metáfora (centre collaborador de la Universitat de Barcelona) es una cita a tener en cuenta para el Arteterapia en paises de habla hispana. Organizada de forma parecida a un congreso, profesionales y estudiantes de distintos países del mundo han compartido con nosotros espacio y experiencias entorno al arteterapia durante dos semanas del mes de Julio desde el 1997. Está ubicada en una antigua fábrica del barrio de Sants en Barcelona.

La XII edición de la Escuela de Verano contempla 17 talleres. El programa ofrece la posibilidad de escoger entre tres franjas horarias distintas: de 9'00 a 17'00 (Diploma Inicial), de 16'00 a 19'30 y de 19'30 a 21'00. Como en años anteriores los asistentes pueden atender a presentaciones puntuales o escoger entre diferentes combinaciones en horarios distintos.

Summer Course in Spanish Language and Culture, with excursions and cultural activities. The program includes four hours of class of Spanish Language and Culture a day (from 09:00 – 13:00 h), consisting of a grammar part, a conversational part as well as optional subjects (Spanish and Hispano-American literature, Spanish civilization and culture, Spanish for special purposes).
