Upon completing this course, the student will have acquired a basic communicative competence that allows him/her to understand simple everyday conversations, as well as to satisfy his/her immediate needs. He/She will also be able to understand everyday media subjects. The student will be able to carry out simple everyday tasks in Spanish. He/She will be able to write short simple texts on everyday matters.

Upon completion of this course, the student will have developed an intermediate communicative competence that allows him/her to understand relatively complex texts on various themes. He/she will be able to communicate in work, study or free settings. Similarly, he/she will be able to communicate with native speakers of the language with a degree of fluency. The student will be able to write coherent texts that express ideas and opinions on various subjects.

He/She will transmit information using expressions of cause and effect and will be able to relay what others have said.

Upon completing this course, the student will have developed a high communicative competence that will allow him/her to understand and discuss texts of diverse genres, formats and subject matter. The student will be able to write different types of texts to a high degree of perfection. He/she will differentiate between different accents of native Spanish speakers. The student will be able to summarise information taken from various written or oral sources. He/she will also be able to analyse authentic documents that reflect different varieties of Spanish, such as radio or television news, commercials, films or songs.
