Interdisciplinary Team Assessment:
On your child's first visit to us, we will assess their needs thoroughly, and where necessary we combine the skills of a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, a Paediatric Occupational Therapist and a Chartered Psychologist.
Specialist Morning Nursery Group:
The Centre works in partnership with home and nursery schools to ensure that the foundations of learning and self-esteem are established well before the age of five, when a child enters mainstream school.
Opportunities are offered for children to attend the nursery sessions part-time, while integrating into a local setting, when appropriate.

This approach creates a rich learning environment within which the children can show faster progress in all areas of their development. The professionals give parents highly specialised work targets which are initially trialled in a session and continued at home. The sessions are structured with a circle time welcoming the children followed by intensive therapy and teaching in a fun and yet meaningful way.
The Therapy Clinic provides:
• One-hour individual therapy sessions to children and families.
• Support and guidance to parents in the form of home programmes.
• Joint Therapy Sessions combining the skills of the Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist.
Specialised Help for Parents & Children
We acknowledge that
in order for parents to support their children, they need support and time for themselves to think about the challenges they face.
We offer Parent Groups, where parents can meet and talk about their experiences in a group, sharing ideas, feelings and thoughts with a Child Psychotherapist facilitating the discussion.
Individualised sessions are also available for parents who prefer to discuss their situation and experiences in a more private and confidential setting. These sessions complement the assessment and 1:1 sessions provided by our Educational Psychologist.
Outreach Programme:
Christopher Place has developed a partnership with local State Schools whereby a speech and language programme has been developed to assist the targeted children to improve their communication skills. The speech and language therapist works with groups and/or individual children either in the school or at our Centre, and always liaising with the SENCO and other school staff. We also work with St. George’s Hospital and The Portland Hospital.
