* Pre-Primary (18 months - 3 yrs) Program: The toddler classroom at One World Montessori School is simpler and slower paced than the Primary preschool classroom for three to six-year olds. However, this pre-primary program is neither a watered down version of the Primary program, nor is it academic preparation for subsequent years of Montessori education. The pre-primary/ toddler program offers very young children a unique year of self development in a tender atmosphere of special understanding, respect and support.
Pre-Primary Curriculum: Sensorial activities in the classroom respond to a toddlers’ urge to use all of his senses to explore everything around him. The toddler program also appropriately accommodates the very young child’s sensitive period for language by offering creative and intriguing concepts to expand their growing vocabularies. Joining conversations, listening to stories, classifying objects and learning songs and poems all nurture their budding language skills. To help smooth their initial social interactions, the toddlers also learn to use words for the feelings they experience in themselves and others.
* Primary (3 - 6 years) Program: At One World Montessori School, our Montessori certified teachers implement a thematic approach to Montessori. This approach ties the various disciplines of the curriculum together into studies of the physical universe, the natural world, and the human experience. We incorporate new concepts and findings on social and educational development into our curriculum as they become available.
Primary Curriculum: One World Montessori's daily curriculum includes Language Arts (elements of reading, spelling, and handwriting), Mathematics and Geometry, History, Science, Art, and Music. Classes in Spanish, Yoga and Music are given weekly. The Montessori materials you will see in the classroom are used as tools to enhance these skills. The main areas of the Montessori curriculum are: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, Science, and Cultural Studies.
* Afternoon Kindergarten Program: A Kindergarten program is now available fo r those children who meet a certain set of criteria and exhibit signs of readiness (usually at 4 1/2 - 5 years of age). Before a short nap, full-time children who are in the Kindergarten program spend additional time working with Ms. Debi on:
