Your teacher at English Learning Adventure has had over 6 years experience in teaching EFL English and your watersports instructor has over 20 years experience, so you know that you will be getting the best tuition whilst staying with us and will be in safe, expert hands. Gillian, your English teacher, is a qualified Trinity TESOL (Teacher of English to speakers of Other Languages) with 6 years experience teaching English and accommodating young learners and adults she also has over 5 years experience working in a local primary school with EAL students. Prior to this she worked in a Chartered Accountants as an accounts assistant as well working as a Finance Manager for a multi-national catering company.

We have a large friendly family and lots of friends for you to meet so you can really immerse yourself in true English culture and practise your new-found skills.

Your home-stay will be in our Victorian house where you will have a comfortable fully furnished private bedroom with a television and DVD player. The house itself is decorated to a very high standard and is clean, cosy and warm. You will share bathroom facilities with the teacher and family. We also have wireless internet access which is available at all times.

English Learning Adventure is based near the coast at the tidal estuary of the Thames River which flows through London. We are located in Hadleigh which is 5 minutes from Old Leigh, Essex . Hadleigh and Old Leigh are both steeped in history. Leigh is beautifully picturesque and still operates as a fishing town - it is famous for its cockles, mussels and other delicious sea food which are caught locally. According to a poll in the Times newspaper, Leigh-on-Sea is one of the 10 most sought after towns in which to live in England.

Hadleigh has its own history of kings, castles and battles. Hadleigh castle dates back to 1230 and the ruins still remain overlooking the beautiful Essex marshes and estuary, its the perfect place for a picnic. The largest town in the area is Southend, this also has its own historical landmarks, it boasts the longest pleasure pier in the world at one and a half miles long. On your stay here you can take a walk down the pier and catch a train back to the shore!

Hadleigh and Leigh both have excellent shopping centres with designer shops, bars, typical British pubs and wonderful restaurants. Leigh is a bustling town full of cafes and bistros where you can relax over a coffee or have a light lunch.

The house is conveniently only 5 minutes from the local train station. We are only 1 hours drive from Stansted, Gatwich and Heathrow airports and just 45 minutes by train from London. Should you choose to visit them while you are staying with us, nearby are Cambridge and Oxford , both of which are university towns with wonderful architecture and history.
