The Metropolitan State College of Denver, Department of Art is a fully accredited 4 year institution, located in Denver, Colorado. The Department of Art offers a full range of studio art courses leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Degree. The Bachelor of Arts in Art degree is available for those with an exisiting bachelor's degree. Metro State has the second largest enrollment of undergraduates in Colorado. With fifty majors and eighty minors, the college is noted for a wide array of Liberal Arts and Sciences programs as well as its Teacher Education, Business, Aviation, and Criminal Justice programs.

Programs:- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Degree
Studio art courses are offered in the following concentrations: art education, ceramics, communication, digital art, drawing, jewelry design and metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture leading.
- The Bachelor of Arts in Art Degree
is offered with a concentration in: art history, theory and criticism. Coursework leading to licensure in art education is available for those with an exisiting bachelor's degree.

NASAD Accreditation:Metropolitan State College of Denver is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The College's offerings in Art and Industrial Design are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
Individualized Degree Program (IDP):
The Individualized Degree Program (IDP) offers students the opportunity to design specific, interdisciplinary degree programs to meet educational goals not met by other majors or minors at the College. Some examples of areas of study include: International Studies, Child & Family Advocacy, Web Development, Emergency Services Management, Creative Arts for the Elderly, Cultural Resource Management, Nonprofit Administration in Urban Communities, Environmental Studies and Public Administration, and Computer Security.
Courses available to IND students with alternate prerequisites and permission of instructor:
- Sculpture courses
- Moldmaking for Ceramics
- Jewelry courses
- Certain Communication Design courses
Jewelry and sculpture majors may also apply certain IND courses to their major with permission of their advisor.
