Boarding Schools in Utah
Since 1971, the Provo Canyon School, North Orem, Utah State, has worked with over 5000 children who are living with behavioral, learning and emotional difficulties. Provo Canyon School is an accredited school as well as a JCAHO approved residential treatment center. Universal Health Services owns and operates the school as a subsidiary. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS) has endorsed the school. The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) is also an associate of the school. We have a 242-bed facility with two different campus sites for boys and girls. Provo is the location of the boy's campus; the girl's campus is situated at Orem. We provide services to students who are between the ages of 11 and 17 years of age (7th to 12th graders) with a variety of different clinical needs. The average length of stay for a Provo Canyon School student is 10 months, however this can vary considerably depending on the clinical issues of the student. All of our teachers are special education certified.

Academic programs for 7th to 12th graders. Our students are generally of average to well above average intelligence. Our fully accredited program and small class sizes are designed to meet each child's individual needs and to facilitate the ability to work with learning differences. We offer comprehensive academic programs with over 140 different academic classes taught within an 8:1 ratio. Our Early Adolescent Program is designed to meet the unique developmental needs of boys ages 12 to 14.

White River Academy is an all boys boarding school for troubled teens, 13 to 17 years old, located in Delta, Utah, which is a small farming community about 2 ½ hours from Salt Lake City. We are a small family oriented campus, and are able to spend more time with each student and make sure their problems do not go un-noticed. All Students participate in a rigorous daily schedule consisting of emotional growth, Positive Peer Culture group sessions, self-esteem building, goal setting and goal review sessions, service projects, daily chores, life skills and independent living such as cooking and cleaning. Students also participate in Individual Therapy twice per month and once per month the counselor discusses updated goals and objectives with the family.. Students are in class six days a week so as to sharpen academic skills in many of the basic courses like Math, Science, English, History and more. Our goal is to offer an opportunity where the family as a whole can participate in assisting their loved one to accomplish the goals that have been established within the program.

An independent teen study curriculum that covers courses six through twelve as well as college and GED preparation. Our special focus is on helping troubled teens by using the Positive Peer Culture Model. We offer a results based Program that includes: Academics, Health and Therapy, Family Support, Self Esteem Building, Positive Peer Culture groups five days per week, Individual counseling, prime for life drug and alcohol prevention program and Recreation Therapy.

Abundant Life Academy is a non-denominational Christian boarding school for both troubled boys and troubled girls ( ALA is not a co-ed program) located in Kanab, Kane County in Utah. We focus on academics, Christian discipleship, and leadership training. Abundant Life Academy is a powerful college preparatory school for the struggling and troubled teen. Abundant Life Academy is a fully accredited high school, accredited by Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, offering a full range of academic core courses from grades seven through twelve, as well as a high school diploma. We offer a self-paced, rigorous, and accredited curriculum that prepares students very well for higher levels of learning. Certified professional educators are available on a one-to-one basis to guide each student through the curriculum, making the most positive learning experience possible. ALA is small in student population, making it possible to receive much more teacher / student guidance and help with the courses as well as to have more personalized course work, tailored to the needs of the individual.

New Haven Residential Treatment Center offers a unique residential treatment program that helps adolescent girls achieve positive change and growth through academic, therapeutic and environmental experiences. Located in beautiful Spanish Fork (with a second location in Saratoga Springs), 8 miles south of Provo and fifty nine miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah, New Haven is part of InnerChange, a family of programs that provide education, treatment, and recovery for adolescent girls and young women. InnerChange programs include Residential Treatment Programs for girls age 13-17 and a Transition Program for young women.

Located in Murray, in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, Utah, La Europa Academy provides individualized residential treatment for girls ages 13-17. Through a solid integration of therapeutic, academic, and environmental interventions, we help adolescent girls and their families to find their greatness again. At times, troubling and often self-defeating behaviors, as well as serious emotional struggles can overshadow the tremendous qualities in any of us. For adolescent girls, this can affect every area of their lives, causing sadness, anger, fear, and disappointment for them as well as for their parents and loved ones.
