Founded in 1794, the École Polytechnique, a state supported institution of higher education and research in Palaiseau Cedex, is the most prestigious engineering schools Grande École in France. The École trains the scientific, industrial and economic elite of the nation. The aim of the École Polytechnique is to provide its students, with broad-based high-level scientific training and a broad view of the outside world. Admission to the International program of the Ecole Polytechnique offers selected foreign students the opportunity to follow, for a full academic year or shorter periods, in particular in the Socrates, Unitech and Erasmus frameworks, advanced undergraduate and graduate studies that are part of the regular pluriscientific four year curriculum of École Polytechnique. Located in the heart of Barcelona, on the northeast Mediterranean coast of Spain, Metàfora is an international art school offering diploma courses and workshops in contemporary art and art therapy to artists and art students from around the world. Our primary contemporary art program is “The International Workshop" which is a full-time studio-arts course taught in English.

It comprises four levels, each designed for different student-groups: Advanced / Postgraduate Diploma in Studio Arts (Route A), Advanced Certificate in Studio Arts (Route B), Certificate in Studio Arts (Route C) and Foundation Studies in Studio Arts" (Route D).

Students with different backgrounds and experiences come to Metàfora for 5 weeks to 2 years, depending on your personal goals and ambitions. Workshops are offered throughout the year in areas such as Life Drawing, Pictorial Processes (Painting), Photography and Digital Media, Object & Space (Techniques in Traditional Sculpture, Installation and Object-Making), and others. During free studio time each student works on individual projects, choosing materials and working techniques according to his/her own interest.

Metàfora also provides art therapy courses taught in English. Our Initial Diploma in Art Therapy can be taken as an integrated part of The International Workshop. In addition, we offer a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Art Therapy which aims to provide the theoretical and experiential foundation necessary to proceed to professional training.
The International Workshop is a full-time studio arts course (taught in English) for young artists & students of Fine Art or Design. It comprises of 4 levels:
