Queen's University School Of English, Ontario:
At the School of English in Queen's University in Kingston, at Lake Ontario, Canada, we have developed two courses in the field of Teaching English as a Second Language. The Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) is a part-time course is designed for people interested in learning the basic skills of teaching English as a second language. This course is also available to QSoE students who are studying or have completed the University Preparation course. The International TESL Training Program (ITESL) is a full-time program designed for international teachers of English for whom English is a second language. Participants will gain knowledge of a wide variety of techniques and strategies for teaching ESL using an integrated, communicative approach to language teaching common to North America. ITESL candidates will experience English-immersion in Canadian context while learning about various aspects of Canadian culture by participating in activities and field trips.

Features of the Teaching English as a Second Language Program (ITESL):
The ITESL course provides ESL teachers with the following focused elements of study:

* classes in oral/aural communication competency,
* further development of the latest communicative TESL teaching methodologies,
* a refined understanding of the influence of culture upon the study of language and
* supervised independent study


 Accommodation:

Many School of English students find it convenient to live in a university residence, because they enjoy living close to their classrooms and other university activities.

Fall and Winter residence accommodation is only available to students who plan to study for both sessions consecutively and who will live in residence during both academic terms. Students who wish to live in residence for only the fall or only the winter sessions can have their names placed on a waiting list.

Spring and Summer residence accommodation is available on a per session basis and is first-come, first served. Please apply early to avoid disappointment. Rooms cannot be guaranteed and may not be confirmed until your arrival at Queen's University.
