TESL Course in Ontario, Canada
Queen's University School Of English, Ontario: At the School of English in Queen's University in Kingston, at Lake Ontario, Canada, we have developed two courses in the field of Teaching English as a Second Language. The Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) is a part-time course is designed for people interested in learning the basic skills of teaching English as a second language. This course is also available to QSoE students who are studying or have completed the University Preparation course. The International TESL Training Program (ITESL) is a full-time program designed for international teachers of English for whom English is a second language. Participants will gain knowledge of a wide variety of techniques and strategies for teaching ESL using an integrated, communicative approach to language teaching common to North America. ITESL candidates will experience English-immersion in Canadian context while learning about various aspects of Canadian culture by participating in activities and field trips.

Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language Course: Learn about teaching English as a Second Language!
* Course inst ructors are experienced ESL teachers and experts in the field * Learn instructional theory and methodologies on a variety of topics, applicable to both Canadian and overseas teaching contexts * Practice teaching skills, strategies and techniques relating to the various topics presented * Observe ESL classes and practice teach international students * Receive a variety of handouts as well as information on additional resources * Classes are independent, each having a separate topic and individual instructor

* Introduction to Language Acquisition * Classroom Practicalities: Lesson Planning and Classroom Management * Teaching Listening Skills * Teaching Pronunciation Skills * Teaching Reading Skills and Strategies * Teaching Grammar Skills * Teaching Writing Skills and Structures * Teaching Conversation and Discussion * Materials in the Classroom * Teaching Overseas and ESL Learning Panel * Cultural issues * Professional Development and Reflective Practice
International TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Program: This course is designed specifically for English-as-a-Second Language teachers who work in non-English speaking environments. The ITESL course provides ESL teachers with the following focused elements of study:
* classes in oral/aural communication competency, * further development of the latest communicative TESL teaching methodologies, * a refined understanding of the influence of culture upon the study of language and * supervised independent study
ITESL candidates will experience English-immersion in the Canadian context while learning about various aspects of Canadian culture by participating in activities and field trips.
The ITESL course is open to groups and/or institutions.
