Quality: The IHT TESL
Diploma Program is recognized by TESL Canada,
and the program curriculum follows
guidelines of both TESL Canada and TESL Ontario
to create one of the most intensive programs
available. The TESL Diploma is recognized by all
Canadian associations and accreditation bodies
as a requirement for teaching ESL in Canada. IHT
belongs to the Canadian Association of Private
Language Schools (CAPLS), and we are a member of
the Canadian Education Centre Network (CECN) and
the Language Industry Association (AILIA).
 Courses: To meet the needs of our
students we offer two great teacher training
programs that will qualify you to teach English,
whether you are planning to do so in your home
country or in Canada or Travel the world and
teach.
We offer a TESL Diploma program certified by TESL Canada. This program
can be completed on a full time basis in 4 weeks, or on a part time
basis in 15 weeks. The requirements of this course is to be proficient
in the English language and have a university degree. Over and above
these requirements, and entrance interview is required in order to
complete the application. Students who obtain the TESL Diploma program
are eligible to teach both in Canada and abroad and will receive
assistance to find employment.
IH Toronto also offers an 8 week intensive TESOL
Certificate Course for those without a
university Degree or for students with a lower
level of English Proficiency. This program is
ideal for Native English speakers looking for
some formal training and perhaps considering
teaching abroad. It is also a great program for
non-native students thinking about teaching
English in their home countries. The IHT TESOL
Diploma program is designed with a similar
curriculum as the TESL Diploma. However, this
program also includes some time dedicated to
learning some of the fundamentals of the English
language necessary to be a successful teacher.
The program is Certified by IH Toronto and is
one of the best recognized TESOL/TEFL programs
offered in Canada.
 Workshops: Our five hour TESL weekend
workshops are ideal for teachers of English as a
second language who are looking to improve their
skills and potential within this tremendously
competitive industry. The workshops take place
from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm; with a half hour lunch
break from 1:30-2:00 here at our downtown campus
in the historical 'Blake Mansion". The workshops
are held twice a month and will be specifically
related to key aspects of teaching ESL.
Accommodation: The IH Toronto Student
House - A large house with eight
air-conditioned, fully furnished, private single
rooms, a large fully equipped common kitchen,
common bathrooms and showers. Also: Dormitories
& Residences (private and semi-private
university dormitories throughout the year),
Youth hostels, Bed & Breakfasts.
ESL Jobs & Career: There are literally
hundreds of jobs right here in Toronto and
thousands of jobs abroad. Canada is the natural
choice for most of our TESL students looking for
a career as an ESL teacher. There are hundreds
of ESL schools right here in Canada, from east
to west, that teach English as a second
