The Berlin School of English provides intensive teacher training courses leading to the internationally recognised Cambridge CELTA certificate. In addition the school provides courses in general and business English and German as a foreign language.

CELTA is an entry-level course, which means that it is aimed at teachers with no previous classroom experience. However, some candidates do have limited experience and wish to obtain a formal qualification and learn more about teaching skills. The course comprises a total of 120 hours of time spent in the Training Centre which can be broken down approximately as follows: methodology seminars; observing experienced teachers; teaching students; taking part in post-teaching feedback discussions; supported lesson planning and observation of fellow trainees teaching. In addition to this trainees can expect to spend about 80 hours working on lesson planning, assignments and other course related work and about 20 hours on pre-course tasks. We offer these 4 week intensive courses throughout the year

Cambridge ESOL has rigorous requirements about course content, grading standards and especially staffing of CELTA courses. Each training course will involve three members of our training team. This and the maximum size of 5 trainees per teaching practice group mean that our trainers have time for each participant and that we can offer the personal support and guidance which is essential on a course of this type.
