Chiapa de Corzo, about 70,000 inhabitants, is a colonial town located on the shores of the Grijalva River and at the mouth of the Sumidero Canyon. The town is 17 kilometers/11miles (20 minutes by public transport) away from Tuxtla Gutierrez, the capital of Chiapas, which is a sprawling city with most of all modern conveniences. It is also 80 kilometers away from San Cristóbal de Las Casas.

If hiking is your thing, this area is famous for gigantic sinkholes, waterfalls, and of course the canyon. For the most part this area is totally undeveloped for the tourist, so getting to these places is and adventure in itself.

We offer excellent facilities for our trainee teachers. You can avail of a free home stay with a local family for the duration of the course. Airport and bus station pick-up available to all candidates free of charge.
