The TEFL Institute (based in Chicago, Illinois) offers a variety of dynamic online and in-person certification programs.

With our online courses, classes are not in live time, so you can complete your coursework at home, while traveling, and on your own time. If you speak English fluently and have an adventurous spirit, you can be trained to teach professionally as an English teacher overseas. No foreign language knowledge or teaching experience is required; the only requirement is a good command of the English language and the proper training.

TEFL Institute is a partner program with the Chile Ministry of Education, has been recommended by the Fulbright program of the US State Department and offers our classes for academic credit through a 4 year university in Chicago (Roosevelt University) and for non credit courses through Northwestern University and University of Chicago.

Online TEFL / TESOL 120 Hour Certification
Length of program - 2 months. Classes start every 3 weeks, and are hosted on the Blackboard website, the # 1 hosting platform for US universities. Our online TEFL class is the world's premier in online TEFL taught by a university professor, with 20 students and conducted in an interactive format of required discussion boards and peer to peer review of work. Ideal for students seeking to professionally teach English as a foreign language. This course is also useful for volunteering or working in some private ESL classrooms domestically.

The TEFL interactive course is 120 hours of TEFL Certification training. It is comprised of 100 hours of online coursework covering classroom lesson planning and practice sessions in a professional virtual classroom community. The course includes 12 - 15 hours a week of coursework for 9 modules with your homework, papers, projects all turned in on a set timeline with your professor moderating your progress. Every graduate must complete 20 hours of practicum/ teaching experience by volunteering as a tutor or instructor at an EFL/ESL Clinic in their community.

We provide every successful graduate with job placement assistance abroad. Upon completion of the course, you will have a lifetime of job placement assistance and support in locating teaching projects abroad.

Online University courses
: Our TEFL training courses are now available at Roosevelt University, a major four-year undergraduate and graduate university based in Chicago, where you can earn academic credit.  We also offer non-credit courses through Northwestern University and University of Chicago.
