Online TEFL / TESOL Certificate Course:
The International TEFL Academy online TEFL / TESOL course is a collegiate level course taught by a university level professor. It is fully interactive with 20 other students. It takes approximately 11 weeks to complete and is the same curriculum, homework, Practicum and professional certification and accreditations used in our 4 week international campus-based courses. Our course and curriculum is part of the INTESOL Worldwide network and accredited by NCFE and ODLQC.
The Online TEFL course is 170 hours in total which includes 20 hours of practicum (student teachi
ng) at a local ESL classroom in your home town. An additional 30-Hour Business Professional & Young Learner module is available as an optional add-on to the main course for a total TEFL / TESOL certification of 200 hours.
Requirements:
- 150 hours of coursework averages to 12-15 hours per week (11-week period).
- 20 hours of student teaching (Practicum)

Teaching Practice:
To successfully complete a TEFL/TESOL certification course, the International TEFL Academy requires that each student complete 20 hours of practicum i.e 20 hours of student teaching / observation / tutoring within a local ESL classroom. These practicum hours allow each student to gain firsthand experience working with real ESL students, whether it is in an actual classroom setting, or by tutoring a non-native speaker privately.
International TEFL Academy encourages our students to complete these hours while they are still enrolled in the course. For these reasons, completing the practicum hours during the course allows the student to immediately practice what they are learning in the online class. We do, however, automatically allow an additional 30 days after the course is finished to complete the practicum hours.
