TESOL Certificate Program - 1 week option:
The TESOL Certificate Program is designed for students who wish to teach English as a second or other language outside the United Sates. The one-week option provides an introductory overview of ESL theory and teaching techniques. This non-credit program would be particularly suitable for prospective Peace Corps Volunteers and current UMaine students or others wishing to live or travel outside the United States.

The program is restricted to 10 participants and will be taught by instructors with experience in English Language Teaching overseas and in the US. Certificate students are offered hands on practice working with international students both as practice teachers and also as conversation partners or small-group tutors. By the end of the program, Certificate students have a principled base to start a TESL experience in another country.
