School Of Teaching Esl:
Since 1985 School of Teaching ESL (S-TESL), located in Seattle, has worked in cooperation with Seattle University College of Education to offer TESOL Certificates and a state-approved ESL Endorsement.

In addition, S-TESL courses may be taken for graduate status credit and transferred into various graduate programs at Seattle University. Master's programs in TESOL, Adult Education and Training, and Curriculum and Instruction are available. The certificates are issued by Seattle University.

S-TESL offers its classes in three formats: a monthly intensive format (leading to the 12 credit certificate), evening classes on the quarter schedule, and online classes on the quarter schedule. The Intensive I class is offered 11 times/year.


 Eligibility:

Applicants must have at least a bachelor's degree from an approved college or professional school. Occasionally, the Director of S-TESL can make exceptions if the potential student has an extensive educational background, but has not yet completed a degree. If you do not have a bachelor's degree and wish to receive the training, you must contact us requesting a waiver.

The applicant must be fluent in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing in order to be deemed qualified to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages. Applicants for whom English is a second language must demonstrate their English proficiency. If students need Seattle University to issue an I-20 in order to get a student visa, students must be admitted into TESOL certificate-seeking status or graduate status at Seattle University.


 University Credits:

Earn Seattle University education credits and launch your local or overseas teaching career with internationally recognized TESOL training at The School of Teaching English as a Second Language in beautiful Seattle, Washington. Credits earned at the School of TESL can be applied to Seattle University certificates in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, a Washington State Endorsement in ESL, and graduate programs in the College of Education at Seattle University.


 Employment Opportunities:

All S-TESL graduates have lifelong access to onsite employment information, a TESOL-specific employment seminar, an email listserve for job postings and TESOL employment-related issues, and a graduates' website. S-TESL has been very successful in helping its graduates network to find employment locally and around the world.
