Foundation TESOL
This course qualifies you to teach English overseas and in Canada. It is open to both local and international students and is taught in small, interactive classes. It is made up of:
- 35 hours of theory and methodology taught communicatively by a variety of teacher trainers and guest speakers
- 15 hours class preparation, lesson planning and independent, assigned readings
- 10 hours practicum, mentor-observed, teacher-graded, observed at ESLplus ESL classes (or other ESLplus-approved institutions)
Assignments include: presentations, micro-teaching sessions, exam, written submissions, and a practical test of teaching (teaching block)
Advanced TESOL
Our Advanced TESOL is designed for those who have completed Foundation TESOL program (or equivalent) and wish to upgrade to TESL/TEFL certification.
- 65 hours of in-class theory and methodology taught communicatively by a variety of teacher trainers and guest speakers
- 10 hours of practicum (combined observing, assisting and independent teaching) if working towards a TESL/TEFL Basic Program
- 40 hours of practicum (combined observing, assisting and independent teaching) if working towards a TESL/TEFL Advanced Program
Assignments include: presentations, micro-teaching sessions, exams, written submissions, reflective papers and a practical test of teaching (teaching demonstrations)
TEFL Basic Certificate
Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language that qualifies you to teach English in Canada and overseas.
- 100 hours of in-class theory and methodology taught communicatively by a variety of teacher trainers and guest speakers
- 20 hours introductory supervised practicum in various public and private schools
Assignments include: presentations, micro-teaching sessions, exam, written submissions, reflective papers and a practical test of teaching (teaching block)
TEFL/TESL Advanced
- 100 hours of in-class theory and methodology taught communicatively by a variety of teacher trainers and guest speakers
- 50 hours extensive supervised practicum in various public and private schools
Assignments include: presentations, micro-teaching sessions, exam, written submissions, and a practical test of teaching (teaching block)
We also offer a TESL/TEFL Teacher Trainer Certificate course.
