Located on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, Thailand, Island TEFL offers 4-week certified TEFL courses, plus an optional 1-month Volunteer Placement in local government schools on Koh Samui. Our emphasis is on the practical aspect of teaching, with 8 hours of teaching practice at primary, adult and 1-1 levels, which will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge to begin your new EFL teaching career.Our volunteering package includes a mobile phone, support and advice from your Placement Coordinator. We offer two separate packages, designed to best suit the needs of future TEFL teachers. Both package options emphasise the practical aspect of EFL teaching, and will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to begin your new TEFL career.
Package A: 4-week Certified TEFL Course
In just 4 weeks you will be a qualified EFL/ESL teacher, prepared to begin your new adventure! The staff at Island TEFL will guide you through the process of becoming an effective, confident teacher of the English language. We don't place our trainees in an actual classroom until the 2nd week of the course, giving you lots of practice and assistance in the training centre before you "step onstage". By this time, you will be feeling very confident and secure in your abilities to conduct a fun, stimulating and effective lesson to your Thai students.
Our course is an intensive 4-week certificate TEFL course which will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to take your first steps towards a new and exciting career in EFL/ESL teaching. Your new qualification and internationally recognised TEFL certificate will enable you to travel, live and teach in exotic locations all around the globe.
Package B: 4-week Certified TEFL Course PLUS 1-month Volunteer Placement
Gaining your new internationally recognized TEFL qualification is the first step in the process of beginning your new career as an EFL/ESL Teacher. To maximise your employment opportunities and put you in the top ranking for well paid positions, there is nothing better than being able to provide potential employers with evidence of real, practical teaching experience!
At Island TEFL , we offer you the opportunity to be placed in a local government school on Koh Samui as a voluntary EFL Teacher for a 1-month period. This experience will not only be highly beneficial to your future EFL/ESL job prospects, but it also enables you to immerse yourself in the local culture and give something back to the local community. It's also lots of fun! What better place to improve your resume than here on beautiful Koh Samui? You will be supervised by experienced English teachers and may have other TEFL volunteers working alongside you or in other schools on the island. Your Placement Coordinator will be available to offer advice and support with resources and lesson planning.
Teaching hours are quite flexible, so your Volunteer Placement Coordinator, working with your host school, can customise your teaching timetable to suit your individual requests. Adding up to 60 hours of practical EFL teaching experience to your CV/Resume will improve your employment opportunities, give you invaluable experience across different age and ability levels, and provide you with a unique cultural experience. It’s a very rewarding experience when you give something back to our wonderful community. It’s also lots of fun!
