* The Language Acquisition Teacher Certificate Program has been designed for the following purposes:
- Prepare the native speaker of English for teaching in English to speakers of other languages
- Qualify and prepare balanced bilinguals (or multilinguals) for teaching in English to speakers of other languages
- Serve as a foundation of deep-structural understanding (i.e. overstanding) of the nature of language
