We also provide English language courses and study assistance to school learners. Quality, attention to detail and results are what make our courses popular – roughly half of our new students come through referrals from past students!
School-Assist Program:
We have developed initiatives to help our trainee teachers while assisting local Xhosa children improve their grades. Our School-Assist program has proved exceptionally popular, providing trainees with a rich and rewarding experience. Not to mention the benefit felt by the learners, for whom English is a second or in some cases a foreign language.
Our TEFL trainees have been credited with pushing up the average pass rate in English, at Ikamvalethu Secondary School, by a staggering 35%. Trainees are encouraged to devise lessons and activities that will address the challenges faced by the students.
We also run workshops, during the school holidays. Our recent winter school program was attended by 64 students and we had immense amount of fun running English language improvement games and activities.
Advice and Support:
We offer:
• Ongoing friendship and support from TKW and our network of teachers
• Assistance and independent advice about finding work
• Free teaching resources to our past trainees - we have a database of lessons and activities which is constantly being added to
"I learnt more than I thought possible in such a short space of time and it has been an invaluable experience. I would like to say that I enjoyed my course immensely. The purpose of this course was to equip me with the basics to teach English as a foreign language in another country. I believe that you have far exceeded that requirement and have furthermore given me an insight into what it means to be a good teacher."

Times and dates:
We run a TEFL / TESOL course almost every month, with a total of 10 per year. The theory component of the course is conducted at our premises in the evenings, to accommodate those in full-time employment or education. However, we can also offer on-site TEFL training, at other locations if there is sufficient demand (minimum of 5 students).
Contact us for your copy of our information pack with 2010 course dates.
Class starts at 5pm and runs until 10pm, with a short tea/snack break. The course is intensive but fun too and while there is a lot to learn, abstract lectures are kept to a minimum with most of the learning taking place in through workshops and activities.
"What a wicked experience!!! I think I gained more knowledge from this experience in three weeks, than I did in a year at varsity. It was just jam packed with fun, and learning, and motivation, and special people. I'm going to miss everyone so much!! Tear-tear-sniff-sniff! "
