 European Language Centres (ELC) offers its
challenging and rewarding 4-week IATEFL CertTESOL course in Florence
in the heart of Tuscany, Italy. No previous teaching experience or
second language is required to participate on a
course and teach abroad. Our course provides an
excellent insight into TEFL approaches, methods
and hands-on teaching practice in real
classrooms. This is key in being prepared to
plan and deliver effective English lessons, a
solid foundation when beginning your first
teaching job.

The course is very intensive and focuses on the general
principles of teaching English as a foreign language. It
is predominantly practical in nature, and a significant
proportion of your time will be dedicated to teaching
practice. Lectures, workshops and observation of
experienced teachers take up approximately half the
course time. Teaching practice, the most practical and
important element of the course takes up the other half,
and is conducted with real students of English.
Entry Requirements: Candidates
will be eligible to take the course on the
following conditions:
- They are over 18 years of age, fit, healthy
and prepared to devote a lot of time and energy
and without outside commitments which might
affect their attention on to the course.
- They have obtained the necessary
qualifications for entry to Higher Education.
- In the case of mature students, without a
formal Higher Education qualification, they are
considered to have acquired sufficient experience to
equip them with the necessary academic and study skills.
