Developed by the leader in quality international education programs, the World Learning SIT Graduate Institute (SIT), this intensive, internationally recognized course gives you the perfect balance between the theory of TESOL and the practical skills and confidence you'll need to be a good ESL teacher, here in the U.S. or abroad. We offer the course in an intensive, four-week program or an extensive, 13- to 15-week format with convenient start dates throughout the year. Each format provides you with at least 130 hours of instruction, including at least six hours of supervised practice teaching time.
The SIT TESOL Certificate Course provides practical training through teaching demonstrations, lesson planning and analysis, and practice teaching and feedback. Participants develop skills in teaching speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and culture. The course begins with a brief look at second language acquisition through the experience of being a learner. Participants then examine specific teaching areas each day, which they apply in their daily practice teaching of adult learners. Participants gain skills in analysis through examining their lessons with SIT-licensed teacher trainers.
