Leading Independent School in London, UK
Harrow School in north-west London, a boarding school for boys
ONLY, aged 13-18 years, is
one of Britain's leading independent schools,
one of a very few schools still specialising in
providing a high quality boarding school
education for boys. Harrow has always been a
school with strong international links. Today
many of our pupils go on to work for
international firms and we place an emphasis on
the learning of modern languages (French,
Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, Arabic,
Chinese, Japanese).
Harrow School is located in north-west London,
in the south-east of England. We are near
Heathrow Airport and the Harrow on the Hill
train station gives the School a direct link
into central London and its mainline stations
through both the London Underground network and
Chiltern Railways overland trains. In addition,
we are only twenty minutes from the M25, M40,
A40, A41 and A1 by car.
CoursesCurriculum: For the
purposes of the academic curriculum there are
five year-groups: Shell, Remove, Fifth Form,
Lower Sixth Form and Upper Sixth Form. We
achieve excellent exam results by having high
expectations of pupils and by only employing the
best teachers. Our pupils are expected to work
hard and our teachers are expected to teach in a
way which will motivate pupils.
Every boy in the School has an Academic Tutor to
guide him. Relatively small form sizes enable
teaching staff to focus on individuals to
greater effect; in the Lower School a boy might
expect to find himself in a group of about
twenty; in the Upper School, A level divisions
rarely exceed fifteen and are often much
smaller.
