 Wilshire Private School, located near the Miracle Mile district in Mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles, California, is an independent K-6 school accredited by The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Within an encouraging and respectful environment, children of all cultural backgrounds are welcomed by Wilshire Private School as sponsored by the Korean Community. Wilshire Private School was founded in 1985 by the Korean Institute of Southern California for the express purpose of offering a K-6 quality academic education enhanced with courses in the arts.
Our Mission Statement encompasses the entire student as he/she acts within a global society, as an elite group of students empowered by their educational background destined for success. Our learning community flourishes in a well-located and safe environment conducive to well-rounded educational achievement. Small class size and individualized attention contribute strongly to positive growth among our students. Wilshire Private School has the strong positive support of faculty and parents. Programs
- K-6 Curriculum - Language Arts (Integrating reading, writing, speaking, and listening for clarity of communication), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Tools and Technology, Music and Art, Foreign Languages (All students in grades K-6 have the choice of studying either Korean or Spanish. Both programs meet five days a week, offering language instruction, as well as cultural enrichment. Academic classes are taught in English, but for students needing English language support, an ESL teacher provides assistance. Most children quickly adjust to instruction in English.), Community, Leadership and Service, Physical Education.
- After School enrichment Program. Students have the opportunities for daily foreign language classes which include Korean and Spanish as well as ESL classes. Our music program includes music appreciation, choir, hand chimes, and orchestra. To further round out our courses, classes in computer, art, physical education, dance, drama, arts and crafts, and theater.
- Summer School. Wilshire Private School offers two four-week programs during the summer. We offer general academics designed to keep students current and fresh in their retention of learned materials. This includes reading, writing, and math skills. The afternoons offer extracurricular courses which can include music, dance, drama, art, foreign languages, computer, and more! Weekly summer field trips round out an exciting and stimulating program.
