Conveniently based near City Hall, the Sacramento County Law Library and the Sacramento County Courthouse, UNC, Lorenzo Patiño School of Law is only minutes away from the State Capitol, the U.S. District Court and the 3rd District Court of Appeals. UNC, Lorenzo Patiño School of Law, was founded in 1983 to provide a high quality legal education at an affordable cost. The law school is licensed by the California State Bar to grant Juris Doctor Degrees and Paralegal Certificates.

For any student who is committed to completing the Juris Doctor program, as well as for students who are not ready to commit to a full-time law school; UNC is here to provide a quality education that is worth your time. Our aim is to assist you on a personal level to unsure your success in completing our program and passing the Bar.

Dean Patiño encouraged all students who wanted a legal education to pursue their goals vigorously, even though the sacrifices would sometimes be great. To further enhance their chances for success, he also assured them that the tuition would remain affordable. In keeping with this tradition, UNC continues to provide the most affordable, quality legal education in the area. 

Our Goal:
The goal of the law school is to qualify its students for entry into the legal profession.

- 4 year law evening program working toward a Juris Doctor degree: Graduates of the program are eligible to take the California State Bar Exam.

- 1 year vocational training Paralegal certificate program: Our program consists of 12 subjects totaling 300 hours of instruction and a 60-hour internship. UNC, Lorenzo Patiño School of Law is authorized by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE) to grant certificates after the completion of the program.

* UNC is approved by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California to grant Juris Doctor degrees.

Learning Environment:
University of Northern California, Lorenzo Patiño School of Law encourages vigorous student-faculty discussion of the law. The ratio of faculty members to students is approximately one professor for every 15 students. Class sizes range from seven to ten students.
