BA (Hons) in International Business
Running a business on an international scale is very different from operating in a single country. However, it is more and more the case that, in this interconnected and networked world, all successful business is international business. This year we have designed a completely new International Business programme that reflects the latest developments in international business education.

During the Universities / Graduate Schoolsfirst two years of study you will complete all the foundation and functional studies making up the basis of knowledge in the field of international business. Many students who choose to study business have not studied economics or business-related subjects before. Therefore, International Business students study the fundamentals of the subject first, learning the skills and techniques, as well as the introductory knowledge that will form the foundations of future studies. In addition, students embark on their process of self-development and personal growth with the module Sociology of Work and Organisations. This is a preparation for the first internship, which takes place at the end of the first year.

The second year of studies becomes more international, and more specialised in business subjects, by introducing certain key functional aspects of international business, including Accounting, Managing People, and E-commerce. By the time you begin your major company internship, you will already have an impressive range of knowledge and skills, which, coupled with your language ability, will be of real value to a company or organisation.

Having completed your work and study abroad, you will return to complete your degree at one of the ESE campuses of your choice, where you may have the opportunity to focus in depth on a particular industry. Studies in the final year move to a higher level of business strategy, and of intellectual challenge, with the requirement to produce a dissertation, an extended piece of individual work involving research, data analysis and presentation. This demands you to investigate in depth some of the most challenging global problems and propose creative strategies integrating theoretical and empirical perspectives from the spheres of economics, business, politics, and communications.

BA (Hons) in International Finance
Students who wish to have a finance specialisation recognised on their degree certificate may opt for the “finance pathway” at the end of their Level One studies. Students will be counselled and their overall grade profile taken into account when the decision is made. The grade for Quantitative Business Methods will be a significant indicator of a student’s potential to succeed in the finance pathway.

For students who seek a specialisation in the functional areas of finance within international organisations, or alternatively within the international finance industry itself, the finance pathway offers a distinctive specialisation. This will appeal to both: the students, for recruitment purposes, and the organisations seeking internationally-minded graduates with a strong financial orientation, within a generalist international business context.

This course provides the synthesis of financial policy into a grand strategy which integrates organizational purpose and goals. The focus of the course is on current thinking regarding valuaUniversities / Graduate Schoolstion of the firm, investment decision processes, financing, and dividend policy, asset management, and financial strategies and portfolio theory. This course also covers the financial analysis, planning, and concept of risk. It includes the formation and use of current assets, working capital, and credit policy. Financial Management includes the understanding of long term financing instruments and the capital structure.

BA (Hons) in International Marketing
The International Marketing degree combines the structure and framework of a British degree with the attention to issues such as the development of leadership and entrepreneurial traits, the promotion of values and standards. The International Marketing course at ESE is not meant solely to form specialist knowledge in the area of Marketing but to give students a broad international perspective which is acquired through the study of languages, the period spent abroad during third year, the commercial experience gained from internships on the domestic as well as international markets.

This is a specialist degree for those who know their career path and have the ambition to be the best in their field. The specific study is carried out within an International framework so that the programme in its specialised area is consistent with the general aim of the ESE education: to prepare the leaders and the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. It is generally accepted that specialised knowledge becomes obsolete at a very fast pace. To keep it supported and updated we need to rely on the individual’s personal qualities, flexibility, internationality, which will never become obsolete if the individual is trained to improve himself/herself, be ready to change and develop, be open to challenge and rapid evolution.

The degree in International Marketing will produce exceptional graduates for international marketing careers, who can move with confidence and competence in the international marketplace thanks to the knowledge they have acquired. It also wants to help students become complete individuals, gifted with intellectual knowledge, practical skills and moral qualities that will sustain their development as marketing management professionals.
