Bachelor of Science in Nursing:
High school graduates enter the B.S. Program in Nursing as freshmen students and complete a four-year course progression, with nursing courses beginning in their junior year. The 128-credit curriculum for freshmen students incorporates 44 credits of liberal arts courses, 20 credits of science and prerequisite courses, and 64 credits of nursing core and clinical courses.
15 Month Accelerated Progression Program:
Students with a baccalaureate degree in another field who have successfully completed prerequisite courses in nutrition, chemistry, statistics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and developmental psychology can enter the College of Nursing, and complete the Bachelor of Science degree program in 15 months of full time study.
Information for College Transfer Students:
Transfer students from two-year or four-year colleges or those with an associate degree, can receive credit for courses taken at previous schools, which allow for individualized progression through the B.S. Program.
Information for Registered Nurses:
If you are a Registered Nurse with an associate's degree or diploma in nursing, our B.S. Program will increase your general knowledge in the physical and social sciences, while expanding your professional expertise in assessment, patient advocacy, and care management.
- Registered nurses with a diploma in nursing can obtain advanced standing credits by taking select nursing examinations through Excelsior College.
- Registered nurses with an associate degree can receive credit for courses taken at previous schools, which allows for individualized course progression through the B.S. Program.
Dual Degree BS/MS Option:
The College of Nursing’s innovative (B.S/M.S.) Dual Degree Program enables students to obtain the bachelor’s degree in Nursing and advance to a master’s degree in Nursing that prepares them to be nurse practitioners, midwives, educators, informaticists, or nurse managers.
