Intensive Summer Foundation Course - 3 months / 12 weeks:
Taught in English. Begins twice a year: Starting in June & September
An excellent introduction to the world of Art & Design, this course is primarily designed for students who do not fulfil the entry requirements for the 3-year validated programmes (Fashion Design, Interior Architecture or Graphic Design), or who are unsure which validated programme you would like to pursue.
This intensive course aims to help you to understand how to develop your ideas, add meaning and context to your designs.
All the basic design tools are taught at beginner level in order to prepare you to enter the 3-year validated programmes. International students can enter on a Tourist Visa, which is valid for 3 months.
The Foundation Course consists of 4 phases:
- Introduction (2 weeks)
You will learn basic drawing techniques, and complete a range of drawings. You will discuss the following topics: Perspective; Colour: Primary & Secondary; Composition; Light; Texture.
- Experimentation (5 weeks)
This phase challenges your creativity, and enable you to understand your own interests and abilities. You tackle a wide range of projects, spanning many areas of design.
- Specialisation (4 weeks)
Students participate in a number of projects (at least 3) with some flexibility for those students that may still be unsure of what area to specialise in.
- Presentation (1 week)
The student is expected to present their self-directed projects. They also build a portfolio of their work which can be used as part of an application to prospective degree courses.
"I chose Marbella Design Academy because I believe I can get the knowledge I require to succeed in my future career.
The best thing about Being a Student at M.D.A is the experience and knowledge passed onto us from our teachers. The food at the cafetería is one of the best things as well."
