Wacky Arcade Game - Action Turnip
If you’re a big fan of RPG arcade games, we bet that you’ve played as some pretty wacky and unexpected heroes in your time - Italian plumbers, hedgehogs, apes, aliens and more. However, it’s safe to say you’ve never experienced a game where the main character is a "turnip"! Action Turnip in a fun and eccentric platform running, jumping and shooting game where you play the role of a brave little vegetable who has to run as far as possible through a post-apocalyptic landscape, leaping from ledge to ledge (and knocking airborne baddies out of the sky in one play mode). Your simple goal to survive and cover as much distance in meters as you can!
In real life, turnips are a good source of calcium and protein, but in this all-action virtual world – your superhero turnip is the source of gravity-defying jumps, amazing agility, and rapid-fire explosive powers! Quick reflexes and sharp reactions are really important here as the side-scrolling landscape repeatedly throws up increasingly-difficult jumps and more bad guys flying around menacingly. Being a vegetable has never been so challenging!
How to Play: There are two game modes to choose from: ‘Run N’ Gun Mode’ and ‘Turnabalt Mode’. In Run N’Gun Mode, you have to travel along a side-scrolling landscape filled with pot-holes, ravines, and bat-like enemies. Luckily, you have a Turnip Gun to blast these bad guys out of your way. Simply survive for as long as you can without falling down a ravine or losing all of your health. In Turnabalt Mode, there are no enemies or shooting, you simply have to jump from ledge to ledge, surviving for as long as possible accumulating as many meters as you can.
There are a number of different ways you can control your turnip. It runs automatically from left to right along the side-scrolling game screen. You can maneuver it around using the Arrow Keys or the WASD keys on your computer keyboard. Press your Up Arrow, the W key, or Spacebar to jump into the air. Press jump twice to perform a cool ‘Double Jump’, essential for clearing large gaps in the landscape. To shoot your Turnip Gun (in Run N’ Gun Mode only), aim with your computer mouse cursor, and Left Click to fire. Alternatively, you can use the IJKL Keys to fire the gun in the same directions as if they were the Arrow Keys (I = Up, J = Left, K = Down, L = Right). The easiest way to eliminate the flying bad guys is by shooting them, but you can also leap on top of them to get rid of these pests.
The bad guys have guns of their own, and if you get hit with one of their laser bullets, you lose a square from your Health Bar in the bottom right corner of the game screen (a square turns from green to red if you get hit). If you lose all 10 green squares, it’s game over and you have to start again. Likewise, if you fall down a ravine, that running adventure episode is over. For each step your little turnip takes, you score a single point. See how long you can survive and how many meters (points) you can amass. The game can be played with the quirky music on or muted.
