Overview
The Candy maker - 2nd Shift will work as an essential member of the kitchen team, crafting high-quality chocolates and confections while operating and maintaining specialized candy-making equipment.
Responsibilities- Operate kitchen equipment such as large mixers, steam kettles, fire cookers, and large pots safely and proficiently according to company standards.
- Mix and cook candies in batches per Russell Stover standards.
- Read and understand formulas/recipes, measurements, tapes, scales and thermometers.
- Interpret product specifications and recognize deviations.
- Monitor more than one batch or process simultaneously.
- Perform clean-up activities as assigned.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines to ensure product quality and food safety.
- Complete FSQA training and programs to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Report and take appropriate action on observed or potential food safety hazards, process deviations, or non-conformities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the food safety culture through engagement and actions aligned with your role.
10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday, 1:30 PM to 12:00 AM. Overtime may be required during peak season.
Basic Qualifications- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Can read and understand recipes.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Can lift and carry up to 50 lbs consistently throughout the shift.
- Can routinely stand, stoop, bend, lift overhead, and stand on hard surfaces for the duration of the shift.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Safe, GMP-trained environment with protective gear.
- Work alongside automated packing machines, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and chocolate candy banks.
- Active, engaging work with continuous movement, lifting, and climbing.
- Climate-controlled environment.
- Exposure to a variety of ingredients, including potential allergens.
