Position: Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Full Time - Mid-Day) - Abington

Job Duties

  • Interacts with co‑workers, patients, families, and other staff consistent with Jefferson values.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Specialized Diploma and graduation from an accredited nursing school.
  • Patient‑and‑Family‑Centered Practice: ability to convey respect and collaborate with patients, families, and care partners.
  • Cultural awareness: respect and effective connection with diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective communication: transmit, receive, and interpret ideas through appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Patient assessment and care: assess ailments, injuries and implement treatment plans.
  • Patient and care partner education: use child and adult education techniques to elicit learning priorities and educate on condition, treatment, medications and recovery steps.
  • Medication administration and prescription: knowledge of medications, administration and prescription for continuing treatment.
  • Discharge planning: partner with patients and families in developing discharge plans and arranging follow‑up care.
  • Assessment and diagnosis: use tools and techniques for assessment and clinical judgement.
  • Health information documentation: appropriate documentation of medical histories, symptoms, vital signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests and results.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania or New Jersey.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree BSN or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within 3 years of hire (strongly preferred).
  • Previous RN experience in acute care setting (strongly preferred).
  • Completion of periop 101 (preferred).
  • Operating room experience (preferred).
Physical Demands
  • Lifting and carrying 40‑50 lbs; pushing/pulling patients on bed or stretcher (requires 29 lbs push force).
  • Performing lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of patient weight.
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking; patient transporters walk 8‑10 miles per shift.
  • May include kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
Work Shift

Mid Day Shift: 11am – 11pm. Workday Evening location:
Abington Memorial Hospital, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, Pennsylvania.
