Train Driver - Passenger Service

Position Overview

Train Driver is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient movement of trains on the Etihad Rail network. The Train driver is in charge of, and responsible for, driving the locomotives, as well as the mechanical operation of the train, train speed and all train handling. The Train Driver may be called upon to inspect trains, report defects, carry out repairs, refuel locomotives and shunt rolling stock both within Depots and in set-off tracks along the line.

• Provide a safe, reliable, word class, customer focused train services.
• Deliver high levels of service performance in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices so as to ensure a safe working environment for all passengers, employees and Contractors operating on Etihad Rail network.
• Ensure the safe, reliable and punctual movements of trains, in normal, degraded and emergency circumstances are performed to requirements of the Etihad Rail Safety Management System.
• Identify and record all irregularities including equipment faults and failures and implement actions to address.
• Provide real-time information updates to the Senior Train Driver Team Leader and Operations Manager on performance and safety related matters.
• When dealing with customers, ensure that matters are handled tactfully and sensitivity as appropriate and strictly follow the guidelines, work instruction, procedure of the organization.
• Response to degraded and emergency situation that affect train operations and ensure passengers’ safety and security.
• Maintain current train driver competence.
• Carry out shunting and train preparation duties as required to deliver the maintenance and service plan.
• Prior to commencing their shift, Train Drivers must undergo safety-critical testing and receive approval.
• Communicate effectively with passengers in the event of service disruptions, providing them with necessary information and updates.
• Train Drivers are expected to prioritize customer service, ensuring a customer-centric mindset and actively caring for passengers' needs and comfort.

• Possess a valid Train Driver's license and a proven track record of successful train driving.
• Bachelor’s degree or High School certificate

• Knowledge of railway operations standard.
• Preferred of European Train Control System (ETCS)
• Preferred of competence management systems.
• Knowledge on the safety communications.

• 5 years of experience
• Good planning skills
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Experience in driving the train, trams or locomotives.

• Good Medical Fitness.
• Able to successfully complete Psychometric Evaluation.

• English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skill.
• Automatic vehicle UAE driving license or ability to achieve competence.
• Analytical skills for problem solving.
• IT literate.
• Current competency in passenger train driving.
• Knowledge of competence management systems.
