The Manager – AOCC Airside oversees stand, gate, and towing operations, ensuring AODB data accuracy and optimal airfield capacity for safe and efficient airport operations. Based at Zayed International Airport (AUH) within the Airport Management Centre (AMC), the role leads daily airside operations, coordinates key stakeholders, and manages disruptions and resource allocation.

The position operates in a 24/7 shift-based control room environment with on-call requirements.

Manage Tactical Planning & Allocation – Stands, Gates and Towing
  • Manage stand, gate, and aircraft towing plans to optimize airfield capacity and ensure safe, efficient airport operations.

  • Coordinate daily airside operations with airlines, ground handlers, ATC, and regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor airport operational systems and ensure timely resolution of issues impacting operations.
  • Support operational decision-making by providing accurate information, recommendations, and capacity assessments.
  • Lead operational recovery activities during disruptions and implement solutions to maintain service levels.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure achievement of operational KPIs and service standards.
  • Communicate operational updates and maintain collaborative decision-making across airport stakeholders.
Manage Tactical Airport Capacity – Ad-Hoc Slot Approvals
  • Ensure all Ad-Hoc Slot approvals are within declared capacity and resource availability.
Manage Ad-Hoc Landing Permissions
  • Ensure all Landing Permissions for Ad-Hoc flights are approved based on agreed SOP and approval criteria.
Manage Invoice Issuance for Ad-Hoc Flights
  • Ensure all cash flights are invoiced upon flight departure.
Manage Approvals of reactive Stand & Gate maintenance requests and Monitor Critical Works
  • Control and monitor un-planned Stand & Gate maintenance works approvals to ensure minimum impact on operation and passengers.
  • Alert duty teams of all critical work to ensure safety is always adhered to by contractors and minimize any passenger inconvenience.
Manage Communications for common situational awareness and collaborative decision making
  • Airside Operations/Ground Handlers/Other Stakeholders - Airfield flow management coordination, fixed resource change requests and coordination.
  • GCAA & DMT - for all Ad-Hoc flights related issues
  • ATC – coordinate airspace situations (weather etc.) and capacity limiting events.
  • Commercial Airlines – for registration/schedule changes.
  • Presidential Flights, General Aviation and Ad-Hoc operators – slot approvals, landing permissions, stand allocation.
  • Monitor Aircraft Flow - Optimize Capacity and Service Delivery
    • On-Time Performance (OTP) - Proactively monitor departures and arrivals schedule and resource availability to identify risks or resource conflicts in advance and collaboratively determine optimal mitigations to mitigate.
    • Delays - Update delayed flights, monitor operational impact, and make necessary changes ahead of time. If unable to accommodate, then liaise with the concerned airline to amend schedules to a more suitable time slot. Following up with the airlines to correct rejected delay causes.
    • Resource Allocation Changes - Check feasibility for requested changes to allocation. All concerned about being informed of the changes.
    Manage Incidents, Delays and Disruptions – AOCC Airside
    • Act as the focal point for slots, stands, gates, and towing during disruptions, coordinating stakeholders to ensure effective recovery and return to normal operations.
    • Manage incidents and delays by investigating issues, reporting outcomes, and sharing risks and lessons learned with the Senior Manager-AOCC.
    Manage Emergency Response – AOCC Airside
    • Lead airside stand allocation and resource management during incidents and emergencies, ensuring compliance with Emergency Standard Operating Procedures (ESOPs) and maintaining operational continuity.
