PrimaryPurpose
St. Vincent‑St. Mary High School is seeking dedicated and passionate educators to join our community for the 2026‑2027 school year. MajorResponsibilities and Duties
- Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect an innovative approach to teaching curriculum standards in Biology, Physical, Environmental, and/or Marine Science.
- Use diverse instructional methods to accommodate various learning styles and ensure student comprehension.
- Classroom management: maintain a safe and productive learning environment, using appropriate strategies to minimize disruptions.
- Assessment and grading: design, administer, and grade assignments, projects, and tests, providing timely feedback to students.
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing meaningful feedback and ensuring academic and spiritual growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents and administration regarding student progress.
- Offer spiritual support and counsel to students as needed, nurturing a safe and supportive faith environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, especially other department members and school administration, to ensure a cohesive education program.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and ongoing faith formation opportunities.
- Stay updated on current content area‑specific research that advances instructional practices.
- Ensure all instruction aligns with the appropriate curriculum standards.
- Uphold and model the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior as a Catholic educator.
- Use classroom technology such as projectors, smartboards, computers, and other teaching aids, moving between classrooms as needed.
- Collect and return materials, such as textbooks, lab equipment, and supplies, from storage areas, libraries, or other resource centers located on different floors.
- Attend or lead extracurricular activities or club meetings, which may be held on different floors or in different parts of the building.
- Fulfill assigned duties, such as cafeteria or recess supervision, which may involve navigating between multiple levels of the school.
- Monitor hallways and common areas: assist in supervising hallways, stairwells, and other common areas between classes to ensure student safety and maintain orderly movement across floors.
- Emergency procedures: respond to emergencies, such as evacuations or lockdowns, following safety protocols and potentially assisting with student movement between floors during fire drills, severe weather, or other incidents.
- Accessibility: accommodate the needs of students with disabilities, coordinating with staff to ensure students with mobility challenges can access all areas of the building.
- Lift and/or carry items weighing up to 10 lbs.
- Sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Work on the computer for long periods of time.
Bachelor’s degree in education supplemented by specialized computer courses and 3 to 5 years of experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
