Postdoctoral Researcher, Critical Technology Initiative - College of Engineering - Engineering

The Critical Technology Initiative (CTI) at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Post‑Doctoral researcher to advance an analytic research program that informs policy on business practices and technology adoption. The researcher will work closely with students and faculty across CMU’s schools and partner institutions to understand labor impacts of AI and related technology transformations.

• Conduct research to inform policy on business practices and technology adoption that realize national security, economic prosperity, and social welfare objectives.
• Perform integrative research with CMU researchers and external collaborators.
• Support faculty in advising students.
• Participate in the broader scientific community, including mentoring colleagues and representing the center at conferences, consortia meetings, and other events.
• Maintain and analyze large quantitative datasets; develop statistical or machine learning models to recover patterns of technology adoption, task organization, and skill demand within firms; connect empirical evidence to theory and derive policy and business strategy implications.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Doctorate degree required.
• At least 3 years of relevant research experience, ideally engaging with industry, academia, and government.
