Job Summary

This posting is for a pooled position. Applicants will remain on a continuous pool and will be reviewed when a position opens. The role involves teaching core Religion classes.

Essential Duties
  • Teach introductory Religion courses as needed.
  • Act as a member of the Social Science Department.
  • Communicate course objectives, grade according to objectives, and report student progress.
  • Work effectively with students and staff from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Establish and maintain opportunities for out-of-class contact with students.
  • Prepare course descriptions, outlines, and other course materials.
  • Maintain class roll and teach in conformity with approved outlines.
  • Participate in Student Appraisal of Classroom Learning.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

    Work in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Requires arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate keyboard or other office equipment. Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize alphanumeric characters. Requires good hearing and speaking ability. Work is performed indoors with minimal hazards, considerable time on computer.

    Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Theology or Philosophy, or 27 graduate quarter hours in Religion, Philosophy, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as a member of a team.
  • Prefer teaching experience in a community college.
  • Employment Requirements
    • Criminal Background Check – Level C4.
    • All new employees must be compensated via direct deposit.
    • Offers contingent on Oregon residency at time of work commencement.
    • Completion of post‑offer criminal background check.
    • Completion of Form I‑9 within three days of hire.

    Courses are paid per credit. New Part‑time Faculty begin at Step 1 and advance steps at each term if eligible. Salary schedule and tables illustrate cost per credit and compensation for additional work.
