Schedule/Attendance: 1st Shift Maintenance works Monday‑Friday and starts at 5:00 AM with a varying end time. These hours may vary depending on projects that need to be completed.
On‑Call:
Maintenance Technicians are required to participate in a rotating on‑call schedule for nights, weekends, and holidays. On average, a Maintenance Technician can expect to be on‑call up to 4‑5 times per year.
Under the leadership of the Maintenance Manager, the 1st Shift Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all physical aspects of equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral Maintenance:
- Complete routine preventative maintenance including, but not limited to:
- Grease, lube, and adjust equipment as necessary
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary
- Submit orders for parts and maintain proper equipment logs
- Install new water lines, gas lines, air lines, and drain lines as needed for moving old or installing new equipment
- Repair water lines, air lines, and drain lines, above and below ground
- Repair sinks, toilets, water softeners, water heaters, dishwasher, and furnaces
- Troubleshoot and repair forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, mixers, printers, processing equipment, etc.
- Build new walls, remodel doorways, pour cement curbs and floors, repair block walls, patch floors, and repair damaged walls
- Install, repair, and move pallet racking
- Operate and maintain boilers and feed water systems
- Troubleshoot and repair boiler as needed
- Complete yearly boiler rebuild/inspection. A minimum of 2nd Class B team engineer license is required
- Repair wiring for lighting
- Repair/replace mud flaps, fenders, walls, load locks, air leaks, batteries, and alternators
- Troubleshoot electrical on refrigeration unit
- Take apart, clean, inspect, and reassemble Urschel blades weekly
- Take apart and clean membrane heaters weekly
- Remove snow from sidewalks, steps, loading docks, and roof as needed
- Salt sidewalks and parking lot as needed
- Paint structures attached to the building and fire point letters as needed
- Plant shrubs as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Attention to safety and detail
- Good communication and time management skills
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, and/or kneel for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in hot, cold, or noisy environments
- Ability to work at heights or confined spaces
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Associates Degree and/or Vocational School
- Facilities maintenance experience
- Ability to pass a respirator exam
- Moderate mathematical experience
- Boiler License (all levels)
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) License
- Welding Certification
- HVAC Certification
- OSHA Safety Certification
- Mechanical systems repair experience (motors, pumps, conveyors, and gearboxes)
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems troubleshooting experience
- Electrical systems knowledge (motors, wiring, and control panels)
- Preventative maintenance experience
- Blueprint and schematic reading experience
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Robotic systems experience
- Strong trouble‑shooting and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
- Good communication and time management skills
