Overview

Construction Managers are the project site supervisors for Dennis Group, overseeing daily operations of construction activities including coordination of sub‑contractors, site safety programs, project schedule, and project budget. Projects involve designing and building food and beverage process facilities (industrial / MEP projects) with coordination across multiple engineering groups, designers, and architects.

The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to interact with all personnel levels, and technical proficiency with multiple software programs.

The Construction Manager ensures project progression through field and office management tasks, including contract administration, project planning and scheduling, reporting, and advisory support to project management.

Site Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Daily supervision of construction activities, including coordination of subcontractors and site safety programs.
  • Oversight of assigned field engineers or Jr. Construction Managers when directed.
Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously on medium‑sized projects.
  • Collaborate with project management on scope, budget, and schedule development and updates.
  • Handle project accounting, budgeting, and cost management.
  • Establish and maintain site safety procedures with the safety team.
  • Oversee process, mechanical, and utility equipment installations.
  • Manage permitting, code, and regulatory administration and approvals.
  • Handle change orders and general construction administration.
  • Coordinate field engineering.
  • Coordinate inspections and maintain related documentation.
  • Manage third‑party testing, inspection, and relationships.
  • Research construction management best practices.
  • Engage client‑facing collaboration with owners, subcontractors, building officials, and the A/E team.
  • Prepare and administer third‑party agreements.
  • Conduct job‑site walk‑throughs/audits to ensure project progression and subcontractor compliance.
  • Procure project services and equipment (rentals, PPE, etc.).
  • Support and coordinate facility start‑up.
  • Maintain project reports and logs.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure schedule compliance and identify alternative resources.
  • Review and maintain submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Work with Project Controllers and Project Manager on supplier invoices and client billing.
  • Perform engineering calculations.
  • Prepare permit applications.
  • Assist in preparing work plans and work packages.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews.
  • Manage project punch‑list inspections.
  • Promote continuous and productive communication among project participants.
  • Coordinate project close‑out activities.
  • Handle safety responsibilities of various types and capabilities.
  • Support talent growth within the organization.
  • Provide coaching or mentoring to a subordinate group when directed by supervisor.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, building science, construction engineering, or a related field (strongly preferred).
  • Design‑build experience on industrial projects (strongly preferred).
  • Experience overseeing sub‑contractors and driving project schedule.
  • Client interaction experience with strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
  • Progressively responsible on‑site experience on industrial building projects.
  • Fundamental understanding of all construction phases and ability to read and interpret documents, schedules, and budgets.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Travel requirement: up to 100% travel within the USA and possible Canada.
  • Work schedule:

    10 days onsite, 4 days off.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and prolonged periods standing and walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to traverse and inspect all areas of the jobsite in all weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
