Full-Time Floater – Technician & Optician

Allen Eyecare Center is seeking a Full-Time Floater:
Technician & Optician to support multiple departments and keep our practice running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, teamwork, and delivering excellent patient care.
This is a cross-trained, all-hands role designed to support both our clinical (technician) and optical teams. You’ll float where needed, help patients at every step of their visit, and play a key role in creating an exceptional experience from start to finish.
🩺 Clinical / Technician Responsibilities- Perform pre-testing procedures such as autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, visual fields, and visual acuity testing
- Accurately document medical and ocular histories in the EHR
- Prepare and reset exam rooms to support efficient patient flow
- Maintain and sanitize clinical equipment
- Assist patients with frame and lens selection based on prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and insurance benefits
- Take accurate measurements including PD and segment height
- Adjust and repair eyewear for comfort and optimal vision
- Help maintain optical inventory, organization, and displays
- Float between technician, optical, and front desk support as needed
- Step in during high-volume times to keep the day running smoothly
- Support team leads and coworkers across departments
- Participate in cross-training and ongoing skill development
