SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for the set up and operation of extrusion and other associated equipment.
- Follow established work instructions and process specification sheets to complete line set ups, mix materials, load hoppers, and process scrap as required.
- Ensure quality by following ISO policies and procedures, maintain production rates/schedule, and perform quality checks during the work process, inspecting the product visually and using O.D. and/or PI Tape and calipers to ensure conformance.
- Correctly complete all necessary records, reports, and documentation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot minor problems to prevent serious mechanical failures and communicate with maintenance when needed.
- Prioritize job duties based on information from the Work Leader/Value Stream Team Leader.
- Monitor and follow all safety preventative measures and practices, including 5S and safety guidelines.
- Communicate with Material Handler/Warehouse for supplies.
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate risk to health and the environment. Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Prevent excess waste by operating equipment efficiently.
- Maintain production schedules.
- Participate in peer‑based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED.
ExperienceProduction work preferred but not required.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
- Sound decision‑making skills.
- Good math, reading, writing skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Lift/carry up to 50 pounds; lift/squat/kneel frequently.
- Stand/walk for extended periods; reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions up to 4–6 times per hour.
- Work requires manual dexterity and ability to perform tasks under restrictive conditions.
- Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader.
- Work closely with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
