Employment Status: Regular/Full-Time ~ 185 days per year

As an Education Specialist at ACS, you will:- provide small group and one-on-one instruction to students requiring support in the areas of reading, writing, math, adaptive skills, social-emotional skills and other areas as needed.
- communicate on-going student progress to parents/guardians, general education teachers, school administration, district personnel, and other service professionals via progress reporting and Individual Education Plans.
- be responsible for maintaining on-going compliance in accordance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
Description:You will work under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal
learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or universityMasters Degree in related area PreferredAppropriate State of Ohio certifications/license in the appropriate grade levelPrior teaching experience is preferableSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriateRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles.Skills that foster and facilitate learning and classroom managementEducational pedagogyStudent/teacher relationshipProfessionalismKnowledge of curriculum and concepts.Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.Ability to organize and coordinate work.Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.Essential Functions:Ensure safety of studentsDemonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learnersMaintain respect at all times for confidential informationAttend meetings, in-services and/or training programs as required per negotiated agreement and Superintendent or designeeObserve ethics of the teaching professionFollow/support/carry out the district and building mission statementRefer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to Principal and/or Guidance CounselorDevelop and administer school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instructionConduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Select and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and…
