Job Summary:

Supervises the Production personnel in the Shipping Department.

Reviews surplus stock generated at various stages of processing and coordinates disposition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Directs personnel to maintain shipping schedules. Takes appropriate action to resolve issues that would interfere with such schedules.

Reviews future orders and apply surplus stock from inventory to said orders.

Works closely with Inventory Control Coordinator applying surplus stock including Good Finished stock available to apply for sales orders, Mill Stock available to apply to processing batches, and all available Redraw Hollow Stock.

Uses ERP system or any available programs to apply surplus stock.

Receives and issues incoming material from sister plants to production orders.

Constantly monitors quality and safety within the area of responsibility.

Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of all materials needed for the department. EG lumber/paper/banding iron etc.

Keeps the Plant Manager, Shipping Manager, and Quality Department informed of any issues pertaining to quality and exercises action to resolve or remedy such issues.

Coordinates with other supervisors to manage manpower and cover open jobs created by vacation or report-off.

Is knowledgeable of the Union contract. Administrate such contract to maintain a good working relationship with the Union.

Counsels and disciplines as required in accordance with the Labor Agreement and/or Company policies.

Develops and trains all personnel within the area of responsibility.

Communicates work orders, coordinates maintenance efforts and interfaces with maintenance to maintain or improve equipment repairs.

Keeps Shipping Manager and Maintenance informed of all major repairs or breakdowns.

Coordinates with Shipping Manager in holding regular meetings with crew members.

Assists operation support personnel or Shipping Manager on special projects or requests.

Maintains the job-related documentation for the area of responsibility. Such as, manpower, work orders, mill orders, printing of lift tickets, assigning lifts to stock, collecting, and distributing of box cards, attaching environmental labels, editing production reports, etc.

Administers all work rules, all safety work rules and practices established by the Shipping Manager and the Alliance Plant Management. Make recommendations on improvements in the area of safety management.

Administers all performance and housekeeping guidelines established by the Shipping Manager and the Alliance Plant Management.

Communicates to subordinates and the Shipping Manager of trends, events or occurrences that will impact the operation.

Communicates with schedulers, other supervisors and subordinates in the orderly movement of tubes to other areas of the plant as required.

Informs the Shipping Manager of all equipment, tooling, and supplies needed to operate the Finishing lines.

Maintains departmental labor costs and expenses within the guidelines established by the Plant Manager.

Evaluates and assists operators as required.

Performs monitoring of the state of equipment, e.g., tank concentrations, temperature, etc., and checks equipment for preventative maintenance requirements.

Performs other duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree and or equivalent related supervisory experience and/or training.
